fun.

Today the new fun. CD was released. It is pretty epic. I'm so grateful Man-Cub introduced me to them before they were popular. Never did we think that they would make it on the radio. At least that means there is still good music being respected.

This CD has a little different sound to it than the older fun. CDs, but if anything, it's more awesome. If you'd like to sample the entire CD to know what I'm talking about, visit the link below. Enjoy! :)

Happy V-day

Because Man-Cub doesn't live near me, we were unable to "celebrate" Valentine's Day on the actual day. But he still wanted me to make some of Gigi's cookies for him, as I have every year. And after seeing my picture of the cookies I got from Gigi, he wanted icing on them. On Thursday, I decided to make some to give to him this weekend. After making them, I found a whole new appreciation for the ones Gigi sent.

Not only do they have to chill for an hour, when they come out of chilling and you want to roll them out to use the cookie cutter, it's rock hard! So it took me a while, but I finally got it all rolled out and was able to use my cookie cutter...which I soon realized was tiny and gave me a TON of little cookies. Good thing they don't grow so I could bake them in large batches.

Then of course, after they were all baked, I had to icing and sprinkle each little one. Seriously Gigi, I just learned to love your cookies even more. Luckily the Office was on TV so I had some entertainment while doing all the work. And I must say, they turned out quite delish.

Then Man-Cub came to visit. Being in Greeley, we prefer to buy ingredients and make our own dinners so we can save our money for the extra yummy restaurants in Fort Collins. So we went through some of my recipes and made a Chicken Marsala pasta for dinner with homemade Olive Garden bread-sticks. The pasta was wonderful!!! ....but the bread-sticks were kinda just like garlic-y dough. So we ended up throwing them all away. :( But it made for a good little V-day dinner!

And while we were out getting groceries, I bought Beast a colorful little plant for his tank so it wasn't so boring and dark. I think he's a little scared of it though. Or maybe he's just mad it's taking up space, but he'll get over it, because it's cool.

Tale As Old As Time

I went home this past weekend. It was very low key, especially because of the lovely blizzard-like conditions, but it was just what I needed. I seem to enjoy going home more when it's low key than when it's chaos trying to fit everyone in.

While I was home, mom and dad gave me my Valentine's Day gift. Along with some tasty treats from a local bakery, I got new Urban Decay eyeshadow!!!

As you can see, it also came with a little lip gloss and two new brushes! It was like getting a new toy. :)

I also bought a fish!! And his name is Beast. As in "Beauty and the..."

He's awesome. And I love him. I almost thought he was going to die on the drive back to school. He didn't look so hot when we got back.

But I put him in his real little tank with fresh water and some stones and today he seems to be doing much better!!!

But I think his water really has to be warm. He wasn't moving too much last night and I felt his water, and it felt pretty chilly. So I had to improvise and hope he didn't boil.

Which he didn't, so all is well and we're happy in our little apartment. But he's not very fun to watch cause apparently beta's don't swim around a whole lot. He doesn't even act excited when I feed him. And I can't play with him...but at least I can talk to him! :)

And today I got a free water bottle for doing a Nutrition survey. Woo-hoo!!!

Tonight, We Are Young

For those of you that have never heard of the band "fun." you are missing out. They have a single out promoting their new CD coming out this month, and it's awesome. You've probably heard it on a commercial or the radio. It's pretty popular. But I'm listening to it as I write this, so I thought I'd share. It's a cool video too!

Anyways. This weekend we had a January blizzard! It was splendid! I don't know why this has been such a mild winter, but I was pleased to have the snow back. I carefully drove to Fort Collins to see Man-Cub for the weekend, and Friday night we went out to a new Thai place recommended my Man-Cub's roommate. Have you ever seen a cooler tea pot or soup bowl?! I sure haven't.

We then attended a party for the business counsel he is in. (Because he's a business major.) It was pretty fun and we were told it was a denim party, so we dressed the part...even though only one other person did too.

You can't really tell in this picture, but his jacket had a red and black checkered lining and I totally thought he looked like the guy from "The Breakfast Club".

And today I got a very exciting package in the mail! My favorite store ever is in Canada (http://www.shopgarageonline.com/home/index.jsp) and mom had bought me a lot of stuff for Christmas when she visited her family in September. Unfortunately on Christmas, one shirt didn't fit. But Gigi and Grampy came for Christmas so we sent the shirt back to exchange with them. Today, I got the package in the mail from Gigi with my new exchanged shirt! Woo-hoo!!!

I had just gone swimming which is why I look super tired, but if you look at my pants, you will notice I was already wearing my Garage sweats too. Seriously, favorite store.

But my package didn't just have my shirt. It had some of the best cookies ever.

Gigi has been making these Valentine's Day cookies for as long as I can remember. (They used to be sugar free though.) Even though I'm in college, I get a new Tupperware every year bearing these precious treasures. I will NEVER outgrow them. (I have even made them for Man-Cub the past couple years.) Jello cookies rock.

Best. Snowday. Ever.

Well I didn't really get a snow day. But it is pretty snowy outside. The wind is terrible, but luckily the roads are clear so I can still go visit Man-Cub.

To top it off, it's only 12:50 and I've already ordered a bridesmaid dress for the roomie's wedding, gone to the gym, and finished class for the day. (My prof cancelled my afternoon class because her daughter is sick. I don't mind at all!)

To make it even MORE better, my movies FINALLY came in the mail!!!!!!

I'm so happy right now. How could a girl not be when Ryan Gosling and Joseph Gordon-Levitt show up in her mail-box?!
I have the afternoon to work on some homework and get ready then it's off to see Man-Cub!! Hope you're all staying warm!!

He's so awesome. If you haven't seen "Drive" or "50/50" yet, I suggest you get on that immediately. "Drive" is kinda rough, and I cried like a baby in "50/50", but they're awesome.

Low Key and Full of Surprises

Hello friends. It is finally snowing in January and it's feeling like a very lazy night. After watching my Thursday night TV and making a rather successful batch of cookies, I thought I would update my blog as to avoid doing any homework.

This last weekend was full of surprises! For starters, Man-Cub and I planned on going to a Denver Nuggets basketball game Friday night. Most weekend tickets were 40$ for the rafters, so we were very excited to see there were some for 15$! That was definitely in our price range. But with all the service and delivery fees, no matter where we looked, we were unable to find two tickets under 50$. That was definitely not in our price range. But luckily, the game was on TV. So we went to King Soopers for supplies and settled in with some home-made pizza and Nuggets on TV.

As you can see, Man-Cub bought himself some beer to go with his pizza, and kindly found a single bottle of Mike's Hard for my fruity taste. :)

I also broke-in my Spiderman apron mom got me for Christmas while making a coconut cake! Also delicious.

Saturday we had to get up and all ready to go because my landlord was showing the apartment early afternoon. Like the kind girlfriend I am, I let Man-Cub sleep a little extra while I made home-made biscuits with sausage and eggs. (Thinking of my dad, obvs.)

That afternoon I took him to see the apartment I will be living in next semester. With my roommate graduating in May and me graduating in December, I had to find somewhere with only a 6 month lease. The apartment is a little further out east, and extremely pink, but I'm still grateful it's somewhere to live. The town resembles Radiator Springs from Cars considering there are only 2 cafes, a liquor store, and a gas station. Man-Cub was slightly underwhelmed thinking about how much there wasn't to do in such a small town, but he did think the apartment was nice. But in case you don't believe me for just how pink it is...I sent Selah a picture and she described it as Lisbeth Salander moving into the sorority house. Unfortunately my phone spontaneously deleted all my photos before I got them on my computer, but I think you get the point.

Speaking of Selah, that was the biggest surprise of the weekend! After visiting the new apartment, Man-Cub and I decided to hang out at Starbucks for a bit before going and home and while there, we got an interesting phone call. Selah got engaged!!! We are both excited for her and are excited to meet her fiance. Man-Cub is planning on flying out there with me over Spring Break for just a couple days. Looking forward to it for sure. (Not totally the awesome Charleston/beach vacation expected, but still good.) :)

Later that night Man-Cub and I made some paninis. Whoever said you needed a panini press?? Our George Foreman grill worked just fine. :)

Some delicious food, big surprises, a few episodes of Breaking Bad, and a couple good movies later, we'd call this a successful weekend.

As excited as I am that there's finally snow in January, I'm hoping this "blizzard" tonight doesn't prevent another fun weekend visit to Fort Collins. Stay warm!!!
P.S. How cute is he in his little hat?!
