Spring Break

Well friends, spring break was about two weeks ago. Unfortunately, school has kept me pretty busy since then, but I have some time now to share the adventures!

Although I didn't get to go to the beach as planned last summer, I was still able to go visit my sister in Nashville, AND meet her fiance! Man-Cub got to come with me and we went to visit for the weekend. It was pretty low key, but we got to see Nashville and walk around Vanderbilt and eat lots of good food! (And apparently my blog is rapidly becoming a food blog so it was rather appropriate.)

So here are some pictures of our adventures!

Saturday morning the fiance made the BEST pancakes and later, my sister and I had a make-up sharing party. (Should have snapped a picture!)

After eating breakfast, we went and ate tacos! haha But these were the BEST tacos we've ever had. After tacos, we went and had burgers. All delicious.

Then we had a tour of Vanderbilt and enjoyed the spring weather and all the beautiful blossoms! Then we drove around until we ended up in Franklin and we walked around downtown. We didn't stay too long though...Franklin shops were a tad out of our price range. Returning from Franklin, we promptly visited Trader Joe's and got toppings for home-made pizza. My sister and her fiance make GREAT pizza and so we ate and watched the third Indiana Jones movie.

Sunday we all got up and met my sister's roommate at the pancake pantry. Also delicious and we ate lots!

Sunday was low key as the fiance was at work, so the rest of us watched Arrested Development (awesome) and visited the infamous Green Hills Mall. When the fiance got off, we proceeded to watch the fourth Indiana Jones. (They had watched the first two the two nights before we arrived, so naturally we had to let them finish their marathon.) On Monday, Man-Cub and I went to find my sister at work and walked around the lovely Vanderbilt campus and tried Mellow Mushroom for the first time.

We headed home Tuesday and spent the rest of break just hanging out at home. A good break in my opinion.

The visit was low key, but definitely a fun trip! Now back to pump out the last 5 weeks of school. Bleh.

Come on School

If my classes were taught with material like this, I would never forget a thing.

KONY 2012

Most everyone is on Facebook these days, but for those of you who aren't, I'd like to keep you in the loop.

Invisible Children, a group you may or may not have heard of, released a new video two days ago and it already has over 7 million views. Take a look.

I also feel a little less cool for wanting to go to Africa so bad.

If this is what Sweden is like, I say we visit immediately

This weekend, Man-Cub and I went down to Denver with his roommate and his girlfriend. On the way down, we discussed going to the Denver science museum, but that was before Sweden sucked us in. We listened to some ABBA on the way to IKEA, and ended up getting lost in all of IKEA's wonders.

This was the roommate and his girlfriends first time to visit IKEA and they thought I was weird for being so excited. Two hours later, they seemed to appreciate my excitement a little more. Seriously. We walked through all the displays wishing our apartments could look as cool as they do. Then we went to get some lunch.

The Swedish meatballs were just as good as I had remembered and impressed everyone else as well. AND all that food was only about seven dollars. As college kids, we greatly appreciate that.

And Man-Cub and his roommate (in a not so flattering picture) also enjoyed their free baby food (which was actually apple sauce) with the purchase of their adult meals. We then got to walk through the actual trinket/warehouse area. Three out of four of us got sucked in to buying a thing or two.

I got some 99 cent hangers and a cheese slicer. While both were needed, I was simply excited to scan my IKEA family card!!!! And yes, I actually got to scan, because we used the self-checkout which meant we got to use the little scanner beeper thing and not just the table scanner that King-Soopers has. WAY cooler, and practically a dream come true for me. :) After purchasing our trinkets, we got sucked in to the other cafe where the boys got 50 cent hotdogs and both couples split 1$ cinnamon rolls. IKEA, you are awesome.

After a very fun two hours at IKEA, we crossed the street to Park Meadows mall where the only successful find was a Sephora purchase made by the other girlfriend. I was a tad jealous, but just couldn't justify 30$ for another brush, or 17$ for some glitter eye shadow. Maybe one day.

We then left to find a little bit more of Sweden and ventured to 16th Street in downtown Denver to find H&M. We were quite tired so stopped for a Starbucks, which was wise considering we didn't know what was ahead of us. I've never been so disappointed to walk out of a store without buying anything, but Man-Cub and his roommie hit the jackpot!

The other girlfriend and I spent about an hour and half running to and from the change room, but the boys left quite happy. Especially Man-Cub with his two new suites, two dress shirts, and two hoodies. He was VERY pleased with the prices of his purchase and the way the European style seemed to fit. He looked very handsome in his new clothes, so I'm sure you will see a real picture of them in the not too distant future...just as long as we find an occasion for him to wear them.

After the boys had finished their shopping, we realized we had only five minutes left to run back to the car and fill the meter. While running down 16th Street at night, I couldn't help but make us all stop for some adorable Kodak moments.

The pictures were taken in a rush, but it was a fun way to end the adventure. We were all kinda tired when we arrived to the car, so we just decided to head home. We ordered a delicious pizza and were given a second large one for only 3$ when we went to go pick up ours. Thanks pizza people!!! We took our pizza and settled in for the night with some good food, good company, and a weird movie (Rango).

All in all, I would call it a successful weekend! And today was homework day (boooo) starting into midterms week. Luckily, spring break starts on Friday when Man-Cub and I venture off to Nash-Vegas to find my sister and her new fiance. Now just to make it through the week.

Hope your weekend was relaxing!!! :)

whaaaaaaa?

hahaha This is how I'm learning about drugs in college. Well, not that everyone gets this, just in Physiological Psychology. Even if you don't look at all the mice, I'd say it's worth clicking on just to see them party in the cage. hahaha Happy Friday!!!!

the end of another week

Well friends, it is Thursday night. One of my favorite nights of the week because it means Friday is tomorrow, and that I get to stay home for the evening. This was the last week with my roommate before she leaves for 8 weeks to do her nursing preceptor, so we went swimming (and did more than I probably have done in a year and I'm feeling quite tired) and came home to make some dinner together. We tried a new recipe that didn't end up being a new favorite, but it was edible. I am now wishing I could take a shower and crash, but realized I just put my towels in the dryer. So in a last attempt not to do homework, I'm updating my blog. :)

Last weekend was another weekend spent in Fort Collins. I love that place. Friday night was date night at Bisetti's because Man-Cub lost our Super Bowl bet. It was delightful and we got stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer that came looking better than any mushrooms I've ever seen. The main dishes were also delish, but with as hungry as we were, I forgot to capture them.

We then went home and hung out with Man-Cub's roommate and his girlfriend. It was really fun, and this weekend, we're planning on going down to Denver for a shopping date with them! :) I'm excited...and even more excited to possibly use my IKEA family card that I got this summer and never got to use! (I even had a dream about it last night.)

Anyways, back to last weekend. Saturday was pretty low key and Man-Cub and I just hung out running some errands and going to see "Hugo" in the cheap movie theater. While running errands, I realized I was more like my mother than I thought as we snacked on lime tortilla chips and DQ ice cream cones. Mmmmm! :)

That night we made some enchiladas and had Hans come hang out with us. Chill was very grateful to have us there and settled right in to the lazy Saturday evening festivities.

She also settled right in to cuddling with Hans and totes made a new friend. :)

Hans didn't stay too late though because Sunday we were all going to the first service of Mill City Church. Aaron Stern was the pastor of the college group, aka the Mill, at New Life Church in Colorado Springs and recently moved his family up to Fort Collins to start Mill City. There were probably about 300 people on that first Sunday and we will probably try to go a bit more, even if it does start at 9:30 meaning we actually have to get up and ready on a Sunday morning. It was weird to see all the New Life people in Fort Collins though.

Well that was last weekend. I can't believe how fast the weeks are going and tomorrow is already Friday. Considering my will to be done with school ASAP, I'm not minding too much. Pictures of this weekend are sure to follow!!

And for any of you wondering, Beast is alive and well and makes for a nice little quiet roommate who isn't too demanding of attention. I do love him though. :)
