Persuasion

Being a Communication minor, I've had to take some, what feels like, pointless classes. I think this semester topped them all though. Persuasion. I learned nothing about persuasion, and basically was told to figure out what to do with my life. I realize that graduating in December means I may want to seriously start considering my options, but it was still stressful having to figure it out.

Anyways, we had to do this project for the end of the semester. Our lazy professor decided to assign our groups and did it all in alphabetical order, meaning my group went last. We've been doing presentations since the week after spring break and hardly anyone was showing up for class anymore. Basically, everyone did a power point presentation with a little speech for their "social justice legacy project"...and we all made them up. (It's hard to take a class seriously when the professor doesn't.) So being the last to present on the last day of presentations after sitting through weeks of them, I wanted to do something different.

This is the video that I couldn't figure out how to post last time. I will warn you, it has lots of strange child aspects, so don't get too annoyed. And I got a 100% on the project, so it can't be too bad, right? ;) Enjoy!

A big shout out to Man-Cub and his roommate for not only letting me tear apart their kitchen to make the stage, but for their awesome puppeteer work!

Life

Well friends, these past few weeks have been busy and with finals starting on Monday, I thought I would try to do one quick update before my life is taken over with studying and group projects.

Last week mom came to visit on Wednesday night. Because my roommate comes back this weekend and then I won't have my own place next year, she wanted to squeeze in one more visit! It was great fun! We went to Romas for some pizza, and although we had just missed happy hour, we each got a drink to celebrate my turning 21. It was fun!

Afterwards, we came back to my apartment and watched the "planning your Disney vacation DVD." That's right!!! I worked hard to finish school a semester early so I could go meet Belle and see Hogwarts in Florida! I was so happy and excited just watching the DVD I almost cried. I bet dreams really do come true at the most magical place on earth. It would just be nice if everyone's schedules and money all worked out so we could actually get there for the dreams to come true. Fingers crossed my friends!

Then over the weekend, I went to visit Man-Cub in Fort Collins. The weekend didn't exactly go as planned with some landlord, dog, and broken shower issues, but after a few hours at the park with the puppy, all was fixed. And he helped me finish up my communication project for this semester! I will be presenting tomorrow, so thought I would share with you all...but it's not letting me upload it. I will try and do that another day because it is WAY better than a power point.

And for the record, Colorado is confused!!! We hardly got ANY snow this winter, and now, in April, we've had multiple days in a row in the mid to high 80s. What is up with that??? It is so hot and I do NOT approve. It doesn't even get chilly at night anymore! Dumb Colorado. At least it makes for pretty blossoms on campus...that I get to look at out my classroom window. (Which, by the way, only exists in 1 out of 5 classrooms. Apparently they don't like students to see outside.)

I've also been processing a lot of stuff I've been learning in some classes and observing about our culture. They all seem rather blog worthy, but due to the vent-needed seriousness of the topics, I'm not up for it tonight, but soon. My apartment is currently 80 degrees so I'm off to try and figure out how to make it sleep-able in here.

Par-tay!!

Well friends, this weekend I got to celebrate turning 21! And I learned that I really do have friends! All this time at school feeling like I barely knew anyone, and I had friends for my birthday! It was a fantastic weekend and I was so very grateful for everything and everyone!

The weekend started with dinner at Old Chicago. Man-Cub and I met with his roommate and girlfriend then my friends from Greeley came down with all their boyfriends/husband. It was good food and good times! And Old Chicago was really nice and gave me a free birthday shot! It was tasty! And Man-Cub had 6 vouchers for free beer so we shared those and I ordered my first beer! It was Blue Moon and by the end of it, I'm just not sure how people eat pizza and beer regularly...I was SO full!

The company was great and I was so happy to have friends from Greeley to celebrate! Unfortunately, three of them had to be at work at 7 on Saturday, so they couldn't go out with us. But at least they made it to dinner! For which, I was very grateful. :)

After dinner we went our separate ways. Man-Cub, his roommate and girlfriend and I took our leftovers to the car and went to meet up with some CSU friends at my first bar! I felt really stupid having to show my punched out ID and new license paper, but it was all good once we got inside and our friends waiting for us had already ordered a drink for me! It was so fun! After that drink, they ordered some Irish car bombs. These were simply terrifying because I can't drink fast, but you have to with this drink. A whole group of us took them so obviously, I had to snap some pictures.

After that adventure, Man-Cub ordered a birthday cake shot for me. We had been given strict instructions that he should hold the lemon chaser for me, so we had to oblige.

After that drink, we kept moving. By the end of the night we had gone to 5 bars and I learned that Old Town is even more fun! I was so grateful that everyone was willing to come celebrate with me and I had so much fun!

Saturday we slept in and Man-Cub tried to get us a tour at the New Belgium brewry. Because weekends are so popular, the tours were booked full until June. Because that didn't work, we decided to try Odells brewry. We went over there and met up with his roommate, but upon arrival, remembered there was a special music festival and there was a live band, meaning it was PACKED. We obviously weren't getting on a tour, so decided to head to New Belgium just to get a few samples.

Once we got to New Belgium though, we asked if they had any drop outs from the tours. They said they always have drop outs so they put our name on the call list. We got our samples, found a table, and about 45 minutes later, got called for the tour! We were very excited! I'm not a huge fan of beer, but it was still fun being able to try them all!

The men had SO much fun and loved ALL the free samples. Seriously, so many.

One of our favorite parts of the tour was that they let us pour our own samples. It was pretty difficult, but super cool!

Then when we got to the bottling building, they gave us 12 minute old Fat Tire. The guys were REALLY excited about that. haha Watching the bottling was my favorite part of the tour though...look at all those. And it only takes 8 people at a time to monitor.

The last sample we had was of the 3 year aged sour beer. It was the guys' FAVORITE sample and they were super excited they got to try it for free!

The whole brewery was so cool and such a fun experience, even though I don't drink beer. haha If you're ever planning a trip to northern Colorado, you should definitely try and sign up for a tour at one of the brewery's...New Belgium was pretty fun, so you should start there. The company even seemed super cool and employee friendly. They had on-site horse-shoes, a volleyball court, and even a Frisbee-golf course. They also have a slide that they let us all go down. :)

It was a fun weekend and I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for the friends that I've made and the good times they are willing to share with me. And now I feel so grown-up being 21!!

21

Yesterday was my 21st birthday. It was rather uneventful during the day, going to class, doing homework, being in the real world. Then Man-Cub came down to take me to dinner. With him he brought some beautiful flowers and a gift card to Lulu Lemon...one of my favorites stores!!

We went to the Rio for dinner. This place is known for their margaritas and you might remember that I took Man-Cub back in September for his birthday! I had my first real margarita! And man, was it strong!

It was delicious! Then they gave me a free birthday shot! It wasn't very good, but it's something you gotta do on your 21st!

After dinner we went to the liquor store...just because I could! So I bought some Kahlua and Man-Cub got some Vodka, and we went home to mix it with some milk for some White Russian-ish beverages.

I couldn't party too hard considering it was a Monday, but it was still a fun night! Thanks to Man-Cub for coming to visit me so I wasn't celebrating alone! This weekend we plan on going out in Fort Collins with some friends to celebrate. It is going to be super fun!! I am no longer the child preventing fun weekend festivities! :)

fun.

First, look at these pictures. The one on the left was walking to class yesterday morning. The one on the right was today, in the same field. Oh Colorado.... :)

Ok. Now for the good stuff. The wonderful fun. concert was last night!!! Remember this back in February?? Well, last night was finally the night of the concert. It was epic. Man-Cub and I went with his sister and her friend, just like last year! They had been waiting in line longer and let us jump in with them so we had an awesome spot, as you'll see from the following pictures...ALL of them. :) Sorry you couldn't be there, but if they're ever in your town, it's definitely worth the investment!

We also realized that this was our first show where Man-Cub didn't get the X on his hands, but the awesome 21+ bracelet, that had dinosaurs!! AND it was the last concert I'll ever get the X on my hands! :)

This was the opening band. No idea what their name was...the mic volume was way too low.

Then came fun.!

So that was fun.! I've been working on this post longer than I'd like to admit, but the pictures just weren't lining up like I wanted. It bugs me that they aren't all aligned, so I'm sorry if it bugs you too.
