we ate, we drank, we were merry

This weekend was a trip to FOCO! Man-Cub and Hans wanted to take some of their friends who aren't normally in Colorado up to see their world. I was very grateful they let me come on the man trip because I do love me some FOCO, especially in the summer when it's SO beautiful!

We loaded up on Friday afternoon and began the festivities at the cool pub I always wanted to go in! Of course we had to start off with a toast to an awesome weekend!

After the pub (eating), we started our bar hop and went to the Rio where I remembered just how much I love their margs. Later we went to my favorite bar, Luscious Nectar Juice Lounge, which has all smoothie drinks. It's like a bar of slurpie machines and everything is fruity and delicious! This was where we got really merry. :) Especially because one of Hans' old roommates, Geo, came and found us! We love him.

The next morning, we all cleaned up and went to Snooze, oh how we love Snooze, and we got some delish mimosas that have some pomegranate in them. SO yummy to go with all the yummy food!

After we stuffed ourselves with the best breakfast ever, we hiked on over to the brewery to try and get on a tour. Which we did! I don't love beer all that much...but it's still interesting, especially with a different tour guide each time.

There's a huge fire in FOCO right now and it's been going for a while so this was an especially cool sign.

We found Sponge Bob in the tile!

The new sour room...you won't see another like it in ANY brewery.

After the brewery, we hiked back over to Old Town and saw there was a concert going on, but we left right away because it wasn't a very good concert. So then we browsed through some shops and let Al get a haircut before dinner.

After dinner, we chilled at Man-Cubs place for a bit where we gained another companion and headed to try and see the fire by the reservoir. Although the flames were over the ridge, we definitely saw a lot of smoke and a BEAUTIFUL sunset.

It was wonderful. Then we went to find a super chill grown-up bar where Man-Cub and I had our first martini and manhattan.Talk about feeling grown-up. They also had 100 beers on tap...

While hanging out in Old Town, there was a lady walking around saying she was with a magazine online and they were doing a story on downtown FOCO. She asked to take our picture and said it would be online the next day...and sure enough!

Sunday we headed back fairly early, partly because Al had to get to work and then because it was Father's Day. But it was a super fun weekend and even Heath's new puppy got a treat from the weekend! He will be the coolest dog on campus with a bottle opener on his collar.

It was a super fun weekend and we remembered just how much we love FOCO, especially in the summer. Not only is it green and beautiful, but it's wonderful not having homework to stress about.

And that was our weekend! :) And last night Man-Cub came over to watch a movie, but we decided to go on a walk cause it was still about 80 degrees with another beautiful sunset!

'Tis the Season

For weddings that is! This past weekend my roommate got married! It was an event with its own ups and downs, but in the end, I was grateful to be a part of it and had a fun time! I don't have too many pictures yet because I didn't have my phone for most of the weekend, but I will share what I have.

The weekend festivities started with getting my nails done.

Then Friday was the bachelorette  party! It was very basic; dinner, then hanging out in the hotel room. We decorated our champagne flutes, worked on some final wedding decorations, and practiced our surprise dance for the groom. (I'm hoping someone recorded the video of our dance and will post it. If so, I will share ASAP)

Then Saturday we had breakfast together then went our separate ways to clean up and meet in the afternoon for rehearsal. That took all of 30 minutes so we had a good 4 hours to kill before rehearsal dinner. The wedding location was a great package deal and provided a lodge that the groom's family was staying in. Because they were already there and dinner was bbq out back, we all just hung out playing yard games for the afternoon.

Before we knew it, we were headed out to get some sleep before the big day!

Sunday morning I had brunch with my parents and an out of town guest, then mom did my hair. (And did an exceptional job at showing off the red!)

The shirt I am wearing was a bridesmaid gift for the day of and we all wore them to sport the wedding colors! Once my hair was done, I headed to the bride's house to do makeup with the other girls. The maid of honor did the bride's makeup and it was fun to be a part of all the anxious prep time.

Once makeup was done, we headed to the lodge to finish all the final touches and start taking pictures! The bridesmaids were all asked to be in the wedding with these adorable hangers, so naturally we had to take a picture with them and each of our dresses.

Then the bride put her dress on and the fun running around chaos began!

At this point, I no longer had my camera, but Man-Cub was in the crowd so snapped some pictures for me at the reception!

If I am able to access more pictures, I will be sure to share more! It was a new experience and weird to think that it was MY friend who was getting married, but I am grateful to have been a part of it. I love Melissa and trust Chris will take excellent care of her and wish them all the best as they start their life together in the mountains!
